Amazon Recycling FAQs

1. How does the Amazon Recycling Program work?

You can recycle your consumer electronics free of charge through an Amazon-approved Recycler. You can receive a shipping label at no cost which you can use to ship your electronics through any UPS pick-up point.

2. What happens to the electronics I recycle through the program?

All devices sent for recycling will undergo material reclamation by a licensed recycling facility. All identifying marks or personal information will be erased or destroyed before or during the recycling process.

3. What devices are eligible for recycling?

Almost all small home electronics and components are accepted. We cannot accept large electronics such as TVs.

4. What should I do before sending in my electronics?

Before submitting a device for Trade-In or recycling, they recommend that you:

  • perform a factory reset in order to remove any of your personal content from the applicable device(s)
  • deregister the device(s) from your account.
  • They also recommend that you back up your applicable device(s) before performing the factory reset if you want to restore your settings on another compatible Amazon device.

5. What condition do my electronics need to be in?

Please do not send in any devices with swollen or leaking batteries. These cannot be accepted.

6. What do I do if I lost my shipping label?

You can re-print a shipping label by checking your email, using the email address you provided in the recycling portal. Look for an email from “Amazon Recycling program”.

7. Should I trade-in or recycle my Amazon device?

If you have an Amazon device, we’d encourage you to trade-in, even if your device is non-functional. In addition to receiving a gift card for your device, you will receive a promotional discount to purchase your next Amazon device. Visit amazon.com/tradein to get started.

8. Can I get my recycling order back if I change my mind?

No, once their team has started processing your recycling order, the device(s) is unable to be returned.
